Take the “Wonderland at Central” Ornament Hunt Challenge

Big, beautiful ornaments handmade by local artists are hanging throughout the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County during the month of December.  Fifteen of the ornaments in the Bausch and Lomb building are part of an ornament hunt.  Pick up a clue sheet on the 2nd floor in the Arts Division or Children’s Center, look for ornaments, and return your completed sheet to the Arts Division for a prize.

Here is a sample of a few of the amazing ornaments on display:

“Wonderland at Central” Inspiration

“Deadlines make you creative, but telling yourself you’ve got all the time in the world, all the money in the world, all the colors in the palette, that just kills creativity.” This quote from an interview with Jack White of the White Stripes makes me think of  the “Wonderland at Central” holiday ornament display.

There’s a deadline for finishing your ornament: November 26, 2012, and limited materials (it can’t weigh more than 5 lbs), and a budget-right? The perfect combination for creativity!

It doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful ….

… a few of these paper stars made large (has to be at least 18 inches wide) ….

…and some glittery tissue paper lanterns, and we could make the library look as stunning as a Macy’s window display!

So get creative, and then come Downtown for the holidays.
