2nd Annual “Wonderland at Central” holiday ornament display: Call for Artists

An ornament on display at the Central Library of Rochester

The Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County is looking for individuals or groups to make large ornaments to hang from the ceiling and bridges of the library building during the month of December.  Last year we received some very creative pieces;  we’d like to see even more entries this year to brighten the Central Library during the dark winter.   Ornaments may reflect the festivity of the holidays, the craft traditions of various cultures or the beauty of the season.

Many Rochester natives of a “certain age” remember how much fun it was to visit downtown Rochester during the holidays in the era of big department store displays.  Midtown and the “magic mountain” may be gone, but  a visit to the Central Library to  see the ornaments, check out some books or DVDs, donate a pair of mittens to the mitten tree for needy children,  and have a cup of hot chocolate at Tim Hortons sounds like a wonderful family tradition.
